August 2026 Food Stamp (SNAP) Payment Dates by State

Millions of families enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)—commonly known as food stamps—will start receiving their monthly benefit payments in August 2026.

Because payment dates vary depending on where you live, knowing your state’s distribution calendar can help you plan your grocery budget for the month.

How SNAP Deposit Schedules Work

While the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) oversees SNAP at the federal level, individual states manage and distribute the funds. As a result, there is no single nationwide payment day.

Depending on your state, your exact payment date may depend on:

  • The last digits of your Social Security number
  • Your SNAP case number
  • The first letter of your last name
  • The date your application was approved

Once issued, benefits are loaded onto your Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card, which works like a debit card at authorized supermarkets, grocery stores, farmers markets, and select online retailers.
