Get Ready for the Final SNAP Payment for October: Check If You Qualify
What Happened to the Payments?
Due to inflation, things have changed a bit in Hawaii. There's been a decrease in the Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA), which means even though SNAP payments have gone up in other places, those in Hawaii will see a smaller maximum payment than expected.
When and How Will Payments Arrive?
If you're in Hawaii, look out for your next payment on October 5. However, it's important to note that not everyone gets their payment on the same day. Some people may have already received their benefits as early as October 3.
Your payment date might differ based on the first letter of your last name:
- Last names A - I: Your payment is on November 3.
- Last names J - Z: Look out for your payment on October 5.
Are You Eligible for the $3,102?
This maximum amount is for a family of eight who qualifies for SNAP. If you have other income or benefits, the amount you receive could be less. To give you a perspective, a family of eight in most other states can receive a maximum of $1,756, making Hawaii's potential payment $1,346 more.
Here's a breakdown of the maximum amounts possible for different family sizes in Hawaii:
- 1 person: $517
- 2 people: $948
- 3 people: $1,357
- 4 people: $1,723
- 5 people: $2,046
- 6 people: $2,456
- 7 people: $2,714
- 8 people: $3,102
For each additional person over eight, add $388.
